Trade of The Week: A Tale of Two Pyramids

Posted on 06:51 by Unknown

As it's the last day of 2012, this "Trade of The Week" feature might be better titled "Trade of The Year", but I'll stick with the usual title so as not to confuse you into thinking it was the best trade of the whole year. And in fact it's two trades, not one.

Readers of my Position Trading book will know that one of the seven pillars of position trading (or at least my interpretation of it)

High Performance Trading (with Steve Ward and InterTrader)

Posted on 10:14 by Unknown

I wonder what you got for Christmas? A surprise present that arrived for me just before Christmas was a copy of Steve Ward's book High Performance Trading, courtesy of InterTrader.

It's fortunate -- and more than a little surprising -- that I didn't already own a copy of this book, because I was well aware of it. I remember talking with Steve Ward at a trading conference, at a time when his

"Bonus" Trade of The Week on Regal Petroleum

Posted on 07:24 by Unknown

Yesterday I told you how difficult it was to choose a "Trade of The Week" example because I was spoilt for choice. And so today, here is a "bonus" trade of the week on Regal Petroleum. Well, it is nearly Christmas.

You might have noticed that the share price has been up and down like a yo-yo over the past few days, as shown in the InterTrader chart below. Between Friday 14 December and Monday

Trade of The Week on Centamin

Posted on 04:48 by Unknown
Choosing the example for this week's "Trade of The Week" feature wasn't easy. Not because there were no good ones to choose from, but because there were too many to choose from. I've chosen Centamin, not only because it's been an "exciting" (read "volatile") stock of late, but because it provides me a chance to remind you how ETX Capital charts can helpfully show your "in play" trades along with

Has Santa Claus come early?

Posted on 11:53 by Unknown

You have no doubt heard of the Santa Claus rally; the tendency for shares to rise in the second half of December in anticipation of new money coming into the markets in January. Well, I'm wondering if Santa Claus has come early.

After trading sideways for a couple of months, then dipping downwards, the FTSE 100 has appreciated by about 6% over the course of the month from mid-November to

My 2012 Christmas Wish: Trailing Guaranteed Stop Orders

Posted on 07:28 by Unknown

You know how sometimes the spread betting companies ask for feedback on what features you would like to see introduced? Well, here is the suggestion that would be top of my Christmas 2012 wish list:

Guaranteed Trailing Stop Orders

After something of a love-hate relationship with them, I have once again become a fan of guaranteed stop orders. Top marks to the spread betting companies such

"SOUND FX : The SOUND Approach to Foreign Exchange Trading" featured in TRADERS' Magazine

Posted on 04:12 by Unknown
I only just got round to reading the latest issue of TRADERS' Magazine, so I only just noticed that they were kind enough to feature my book SOUND FX : The SOUND Approach to Foreign Exchange Trading on page 23 in their New Products section. Check it out, and hey -- you might as well read the rest of the magazine while you're there.

If you're looking for a foreign exchange trading provider that
